Clamp Ferrules & Blanks
Generally ferrules and blanks are produced by CNC turning from stainless steel bar stock in grades such as AISI 316 and typically to ASTM A182, A276 or A479.
Generally low sulphur grades of stainless steel are offered for good welding characteristics and particularly since the introduction of the ASME BPE guidelines.
More recently ferrules have been offered from plate material which lowers the manufacturing costs and these are offered for general purpose installations where strong chemicals or solvents such as purified water are encountered.

Materials:
A wide range of non-standard material is also available for the ferrules and blanks, in addition to 316L stainless steel, including
- 316L stainless steel – 1.4404
- 316Ti 1.4571 and 1.4435 available to order
- Alloy C22 and C276
- Titanium
- Nickel Alloys such as Alloy 400 and Duplex UNS32750 & UNS72760
- 6Mo – Materials such as 904L SMO & 254 SMO
- Surface Finish: The standard internal surface finish for clamp ferrules is 0.8- 1.0mM Ra internally, with enhanced finishes of 0.51 mM Ra & 0.38 mM Ra or better available on request. Electro-polishing is also available to order.
- Certification: Full material traceability is available to EN 10204 3.1 on all clamp ferrules and blanks, while a certificate of conformity is offered generally for the seals. If more detailed analysis is required then please make this clear at the enquiry stage.
- Compatibility: Where the environment is deemed aggressive to either the seal or the clamp union, please provide details of the media and operating conditions and our technical staff will assist you in the selection of the most appropriate material.
